Türkiye Scholarships (Türkiye Bursları) funds international students' studies in Türkiye and includes university placement, tuition, accommodation, health insurance, a Turkish language year and travel support under the programme's rules. The currently published monthly stipends are TRY 6,500 for undergraduate students, TRY 9,500 for master's students and TRY 13,000 for PhD students. Apply directly through the official TBBS portal.

Are 2027 applications open? Our October 17, 2026 review did not find a separate announcement opening the 2027 general application round. The official recurring calendar gives January 10–February 20 as the annual window. Use that window to prepare, and verify the cycle-specific announcement before treating those dates as confirmed 2027 deadlines. Official calendar.

Meeting a minimum makes you eligible for consideration; it does not secure an award. Official eligibility criteria.

Eligibility: check your degree, age and academic record

Citizens of different countries can apply, except Turkish citizens and people who have lost Turkish citizenship. Applicants already enrolled in a Turkish university at the same level they want to apply for are excluded. Graduates and students who will graduate before August under the relevant cycle's rules may apply. Follow the date-of-birth rules in the application system instead of calculating an unsupported cutoff yourself. Eligibility source.

For example, an applicant with an 85% secondary-school result may clear the general bachelor's academic minimum but does not meet the published 90% threshold for medicine. Do not automatically convert a 3.0/4.0 GPA to 75%; provide your institution's grading scale and follow the portal's instructions.

Monthly stipend, accommodation and other benefits

Study level Currently published monthly stipend
Associate and bachelor's TRY 6,500
Master's TRY 9,500
PhD TRY 13,000

These are the figures on the official pages at review time, not a separate guarantee of 2027 payment rates. The full-time programme also covers tuition, university and department placement, health insurance, Turkish-language education, accommodation and flights at the beginning of studies and upon graduation. Full-time programme coverage.

Graduate housing has different rules from undergraduate housing. Undergraduate dormitory fees are covered during the study period. Master's and PhD students have first-year dormitory access; the official page describes a subsequent housing allowance of TRY 6,000 in Istanbul and Ankara and TRY 5,000 in other cities. Check the applicable arrangements in your award documents. Official accommodation details.

Keep personal transport, phone and discretionary spending in a separate budget. A fixed dollar conversion in an older guide can become misleading as exchange rates change.

2027 application dates and results

The general annual calendar lists applications in January–February, evaluation in March–April, interviews in April–June, results in early August, initial procedures in August and travel to Türkiye in September. It does not, by itself, establish a new cycle's opening announcement. Official calendar.

Creating a portal account is different from submitting an application to an open scholarship round. Check the Türkiye Scholarships opportunity record for the current application-status note.

Documents you should prepare

The official application instructions list:

  • A valid identity document or passport and a photograph taken within the previous year.
  • Your diploma or temporary graduation certificate and academic transcript.
  • National examination results, if available.
  • International admission-test results if the selected university or programme requires them.
  • An accepted international language-test result if required.
  • For PhD applications, a research-topic proposal and an example of research you have written.

Do not assume every applicant needs two recommendation letters, a medical certificate or certified translations at the initial stage. Those are not universal requirements in this general checklist. Follow additional requests in your programme and application account.

Before uploading, open each file and check that names, dates, stamps and all pages are legible. Track missing documents with an issuing office and expected delivery date so you do not discover a problem on deadline day.

How to apply through TBBS

1. Create your account on the official portal

Use TBBS and an email account you can access reliably. Keep your login details private and enter your name consistently with your identification.

2. Complete your education and personal records

Check your nationality, date of birth, qualifications, graduation dates and grading system against the supporting documents. If you have not graduated yet, use the option and temporary documentation the portal accepts for your circumstances.

3. Compare the programmes available to you

The scholarship describes up to 12 programme preferences. Availability depends on your educational background. Compare teaching language, examination requirements and academic fit before ranking programmes. Preferences, programme availability.

Decision What to record
Language The accepted certificate and whether you have it
Entry requirements Required test scores and previous qualifications
Academic fit A course, research area or training outcome that serves your goals
Location Housing arrangements and personal expenses
Motivation A specific reason for choosing the programme

A “4-4-4” division of ambitious, moderate and backup choices is not an official selection rule. We have no evidence that it triples an applicant's chance of admission. Choose a coherent set of programmes you would actually attend.

4. Write a specific letter of intent

Connect your previous work with the skills you want to gain and the work you intend to do afterwards. Replace broad enthusiasm with an example of a project, academic question or activity you can discuss honestly. Follow the current portal's text limits. Our Türkiye Scholarships motivation-letter guide explains how to develop a draft.

5. Review, submit and keep a record

Check file placement, document readability and consistency across the form. Save your submitted preferences and statements for interview preparation, retain the submission confirmation, and monitor both email and your account. Uploading early leaves time to resolve problems; it does not guarantee preferential selection.

Eligible subjects, medicine and graduate study

Bachelor's programmes include fields such as engineering, social sciences, basic sciences and health sciences, subject to available choices. The official graduate-programme description excludes health sciences. Undergraduate medicine availability must not be presented as evidence that medical master's or PhD programmes are covered. Check each listed programme and qualification recognition in the country where you plan to work. Official programme details.

Language requirements and the Turkish preparatory year

An English-taught programme may require an accepted language certificate and an admission test. Do not assume IELTS is accepted wherever TOEFL is listed. Award holders without Turkish C1 certification must take the Turkish-language year and reach C1, including students placed in English-taught programmes. Official language instructions.

The scholarship test and interview

The official selection page describes a bachelor's quantitative test with 30 mathematics, geometry and logic questions in 60 minutes. Some countries have different arrangements, so follow your invitation. Interviews generally last 15–30 minutes and cover documents, motivation, academic knowledge and career goals. Selection process and official sample-test links.

Practise explaining one project, why you selected your field and how you intend to use the training. These are preparation prompts, not leaked interview questions. Review your submitted application so that your answers remain consistent with it.

What can improve an application?

Official evaluation considers academic achievement, qualifications, interests, career plans, consistency of preferences, the letter of intent and social activities. We cannot give a verified personal acceptance rate for your profile or the 2027 cycle. An overall historical award rate would not establish your individual probability. Official evaluation criteria.

Focus on work you can control: document your actual role in projects, explain academic choices, obtain required certificates in time, and correct inconsistent dates or grades. Optional editing services cannot grant official priority or guarantee an award.

Frequently asked questions

When do Türkiye Scholarships 2027 applications open?

The annual calendar lists January 10–February 20. Our October 17, 2026 review did not find a separate announcement opening the 2027 general round. Verify the cycle-specific notice before relying on a deadline.

How much is the Türkiye Bursları monthly stipend?

The currently published rates are TRY 6,500 for associate/bachelor's students, TRY 9,500 for master's students and TRY 13,000 for PhD students. These figures may be revised by the provider.

Is a 70% academic result enough to win?

It meets the general associate/bachelor's academic minimum, not a guarantee of selection. Medicine, dentistry and pharmacy have a 90% minimum, and graduate applicants have a 75% minimum.

Can I apply before graduating?

The eligibility page includes students who will graduate before August under the relevant application-cycle conditions. Use the documentation accepted by the portal for your current status.

Do I need IELTS?

Requirements depend on the programme. Check its accepted language certificates rather than assuming all English-taught programmes accept IELTS or waive language evidence.

Is accommodation free for the whole degree?

Undergraduate dormitory coverage and graduate housing arrangements differ. The provider describes first-year dormitory access for graduate students and a housing allowance in subsequent years.

Is there a guaranteed acceptance strategy?

No verified strategy guarantees selection or multiplies every applicant's chances. Eligibility, academic fit, documentary evidence and evaluation of the complete application matter.

Do I need to pay an agent?

No. You can apply directly for free. Professional preparation is optional and cannot guarantee an award.
