iPhone 18 Pro Pre-Orders Open Today: $1,199, Ships September 18

Last updated: September 2026

Apple opened pre-orders for iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max on Saturday, 12 September 2026 at 5:00 a.m. Pacific Time. The US price starts at $1,199 for the 256GB Pro and $1,299 for the Pro Max. First deliveries land on Friday, 18 September. Those dates and prices come from Apple’s 9 September newsroom release and the 11 September “Get ready” update — not from a leak.

If you are ordering in India, that is 5:30 p.m. IST today. In Lagos or Nairobi, convert from 12:00 UTC. In Dubai it is 4:00 p.m. The foldable iPhone Duo is a different product with a different clock: pre-orders start 16 October at $1,999. Do not mix the two queues.

The clock, not the calendar: when the button actually works

Apple anchored the window to 5:00 a.m. PT. Everything else is a conversion.

Price, storage, colours — only what Apple published

Model Base storage Published US price Published US 24-month figure
iPhone 18 Pro 256GB $1,199 $49.95 / month
iPhone 18 Pro Max 256GB $1,299 $54.12 / month
Both 512GB, 1TB, 2TB Apple listed the capacities, not a full US price grid in the release

Colours: black, silver, glacier, burgundy. Four finishes, no extra “natural titanium” option in the published list.

Hong Kong’s newsroom lists HK$10,499 / HK$11,499. Spain lists €1,469 / €1,619. Indian retail coverage has quoted Rs 1,64,900 for the 256GB Pro — treat that as a reseller figure until it is on apple.com/in at checkout.

The monthly US numbers sit on Apple Card Monthly Installments or Apple Upgrade (a Klarna lease). Both are credit or leasing products. This guide does not recommend them. Pay the cash price, or cut it with Apple Trade In: $175 to $885 in the US for iPhone 13 or newer, depending on condition. Carrier credits of up to $1,200 for iPhone 14 or newer are US-carrier deals with their own terms — read the carrier page before you count on them.

eSIM-only markets: a battery gain and a SIM headache

Apple will sell eSIM-only Pro models in Bahrain, Canada, Guam, Japan, Kuwait, Mexico, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, the United States and the US Virgin Islands. Those units drop the physical SIM tray, add about two extra hours of video playback, and require a carrier that actually issues eSIM.

If you live in Dubai, Riyadh, Kuwait City or Doha, do this before 18 September:

  1. Confirm your operator (e&, du, stc, Zain, Ooredoo) can move your number to eSIM on this device.
  2. If you roam between a Gulf number and a home-country physical SIM, convert both or buy a travel eSIM. The plastic SIM will not slide in.
  3. Apple says eSIM is supported by 500+ carriers worldwide. That is not the same as “every prepaid stall at the airport.”

Published video-playback battery life on eSIM-only units: up to 36 hours on Pro and 45 hours on Pro Max. Wired charging to 50% in about 15 minutes; MagSafe to 50% in 30 minutes, with Apple’s 60W-class adapter caveats in the footnote.

For a student moving between India and the Gulf, or a contractor flying Lagos–Dubai, the eSIM constraint is the difference between a phone that works on day one and a brick at passport control.

Variable aperture: the first iPhone that stops down

The 48MP Fusion Main camera uses six laser-cut blades to change aperture. Apple’s published examples:

  • ƒ/1.48 in low light
  • ƒ/1.8 for portraits
  • ƒ/4 when you need the back row of a group in focus

Pro controls add manual shutter speed, white balance, aperture and a histogram. Cinematic effects can be applied after capture on video up to 60 fps. Time-lapse now records in 4K Dolby Vision HDR.

Apple Reference Image signs sensor data in a new Reference mode and stores an unalterable companion file in Photos. Launch limits: not available at launch in China; capture will not ship at launch in the EU on these phones, though iOS 27 / iPadOS 27 / macOS 27 users can still view and develop reference images.

A20 Pro and the bigger vapor chamber

A20 Pro is a 2-nanometer chip: 6-core CPU, 7-core GPU Apple rates up to 40% faster than A19 Pro, and a Dual 16-core Neural Engine (32 cores total, double A19 Pro). Memory bandwidth is 50% higher than A19 Pro.

The next-generation vapor chamber has three times the surface area of the iPhone 17 Pro design. Apple’s claim is the highest sustained performance yet, up to 40% over the previous generation in its internal tests.

Networking: Apple’s N1 chip for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread; a new C2 modem with 15% lower energy use than C1X and faster uploads; mmWave in the US.

The Dynamic Island now shows three Live Activities at once without dropping Face ID.

iOS 27 lands Monday 14 September — language limits matter

iOS 27 is a free update on Monday, 14 September 2026, four days before the phones arrive. Update the phone you already own.

Siri AI ships as a beta with iOS 27 in English first. French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish follow in October. Apple states it will not be available initially in the EU on iOS.

Apple Intelligence on 14 September supports English, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish, Vietnamese, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean. If your daily language is Hindi, Swahili, Arabic, or most other languages, do not buy this phone for the assistant. Buy it for the camera and battery, or wait. Daily caps apply to cloud-side features; Apple says wider access will be paid later. Siri AI is not available to users under 13.

For a longer look at what the on-device stack actually does, see our Apple Intelligence 2026 guide.

How to place the order today

Apple’s “Get Ready” bag shortcut closed at 9:00 a.m. PT on Friday, 11 September. You can still order.

  1. Update the Apple Store app and sign in with the Apple Account that should own the device.
  2. Pick Pro vs Pro Max, colour, storage.
  3. Add a trade-in if you hold iPhone 13 or newer.
  4. Pay in full if you can. Skip lease and instalment products if you want to avoid credit.
  5. Choose home delivery or store pickup from 18 September.
  6. If a colour shows as delayed, switch colour or storage rather than refreshing for an hour.

Apple Stores will run “Say Hello to iPhone 18 Pro” and “Tips: What’s New on iOS 27” sessions after launch. Useful after the box arrives, not instead of reading the spec sheet.

When you should not buy this week

Skip the Saturday rush if:

  • You are waiting for a foldable. That is Duo on 16 October, from $1,999.
  • You are buying for a fluent local-language assistant. English is first; many major languages are absent at launch.
  • Your current phone is an iPhone 16 or 17 Pro and the only upgrade you want is a new colour. The camera and battery jumps are real; they are not a reason to eat a $1,199 bill on a two-year-old flagship.
  • You were counting on cheap bundled video. Apple One’s individual plan is $21.95. The “three months of Apple One free” offer for Pro buyers starts 17 September in select countries only. Cross-check 2026 streaming price hikes before you stack Netflix, YouTube Premium and Apple TV+ on top of the handset.

Buy this week if you shoot for a living and want variable aperture before month-end, or if your iPhone 13-or-older trade-in covers a serious slice of the cash price.

What Ada in Lagos actually has to do

Ada, 27, designs for a fintech in Lagos and visits Nairobi every other month. She can pre-order from 1:00 p.m. WAT today if Apple’s Nigerian storefront is in her wave; if it is not, she waits for 25 September or uses a launch-country address she can legally import through. Her MTN line is a physical SIM. If Nigeria is not on the eSIM-only list, the tray stays. If she instead ships a UAE-configured unit through a relative in Dubai, that unit will be eSIM-only and her Lagos SIM will not seat. The wrong SKU is a more expensive mistake than missing Saturday’s first hour.

Frequently asked questions

Are iPhone 18 Pro pre-orders open today?

Yes. Apple opened them on Saturday, 12 September 2026 at 5:00 a.m. PT (1:00 p.m. in London, 4:00 p.m. in Dubai, 5:30 p.m. in India) on apple.com and in the Apple Store app.

How much do iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max cost?

Apple’s published US prices are $1,199 and $1,299 for the 256GB models. 512GB, 1TB and 2TB are offered; the debut release did not print a full US grid for those tiers. Local taxes and carrier bundles change the checkout total.

When will the phone ship?

Friday, 18 September 2026 in the first 65-plus countries. Friday, 25 September in 20 more. Your confirmation email carries the slot for your colour and storage.

Which countries get eSIM-only iPhone 18 Pro models?

Apple lists Bahrain, Canada, Guam, Japan, Kuwait, Mexico, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, the United States and the US Virgin Islands. Those phones have no physical SIM tray and about two extra hours of video playback.

Does Siri AI work in every language on day one?

No. It starts in English on 14 September, adds French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish in October, and is not initially available in the EU on iOS. Apple Intelligence’s launch language list does not include many widely spoken languages.

Is this the foldable iPhone?

No. iPhone 18 Pro is the standard Pro phone. iPhone Duo is the foldable, from $1,999, with pre-orders on 16 October. Separate newsroom posts, separate inventory.

Your next step

Open apple.com/iphone-18-pro if the cash price works. Convert to eSIM if your country is on the eSIM-only list. Install iOS 27 on Monday even if you keep last year’s phone. If you want the foldable, set a reminder for 16 October and leave this queue.

The only numbers that matter at checkout are $1,199 to start and 18 September for the first boxes. Everything else is colour, storage, and whether your carrier can provision an eSIM before the courier arrives.
